In the overall list, California is prominent with Cabernet and Chardonnay Italian wines make up 20 percent of the total, particularly from Piedmont and Tuscany (home to the Wine of the Year). Bordeaux placed two wines in the Top 10 of 2023. However, the classics are still going strong. Nearly half of the wineries on the 2023 Top 100 are new to the list. Since then, new regions, grapes and styles have appeared on the list: A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc cracked the Top 10 for the first time, joined by a classic-scoring Aglianico from southern Italy and two Pinot Noirs from Sonoma’s coastal frontier.
